What Do We Mean by Child Development?

Written by: Aaron Armstrong

We know using terms like “holistic child development” is usually a great way to make people fall asleep, but it’s incredibly important to what we do here at Compassion.

It means that we don’t simply respond to a child’s need by handing out food or giving them a Bible.

It means that we seek to develop a child in all the different aspects of their life:

  • their minds
  • their bodies
  • their relationships

…while discovering God’s love for them in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

That sounds like a big job, doesn’t it?

That’s why we’ve developed four programs that work together to care for the specific developmental and spiritual needs of children, from the womb all the way to the workforce:

  • The Child Survival Program
  • The Child Sponsorship Program
  • The Leadership Development Program
  • The Response Programs
