What difference is your sponsorship really making?

Written by: Aaron Armstrong

You’ve heard us talk about how sponsorship changes lives. You’ve watched videos about Compassion children who’ve grown up to become leaders in their communities. You’ve read about moms whose babies were saved because the church came to their aid.

These stories bring a great deal of joy, but have you ever wondered, “Is that what my Compassion child is experiencing? What difference does my sponsorship really make?”

Watch as Averil Shadd meets Maria, her Compassion child from Nicaragua, and learns the real difference her sponsorship is making:

“Spending time with Maria and her family … touched my heart in ways I still cannot completely describe.”

Compassion offers trip experiences that let you see the difference your sponsorship is making for yourself. We provide two different opportunities for you to meet your child face-to-face: individual visits or Compassion exposure trips.

Individual visits. Whether you’re travelling on your own or as part of a mission trip, you can arrange to spend a day making memories with your Compassion child while you are in his or her country. We’re happy to help you meet your child and get to know him or her better. If you’re planning a trip your child’s country, please call us at 1-800-563-5437 or sign up now.

Compassion exposure trips. Several times a year, Compassion Canada hosts exposure trips for supporters to see what God is doing and meet their Compassion children. On these meaningful adventures, you’ll worship with one of our local church partners, visit Compassion centres like the one your child attends and play games with lots of children. You’ll visit the homes of Compassion children to learn how your sponsorship makes a difference for the whole family. Best of all, you will get to meet your sponsored child and spend a day together making unforgettable memories. When we’re planning a trip to your child’s country, you will be emailed an invitation to join us and see the difference your sponsorship really makes.

Whether you’re travelling on your own or as part of a Compassion exposure trip, there is no better way to understand the impact you’re having than to see it for yourself. We promise that when you return, you will never look at the world—or your sponsorship—the same way!
