Suggested language for sharing: Toilet talk. It makes us all giggle but did you know that for children in poverty, toilets are actually really serious business? The reality is 2.4 billion people don’t have access to washrooms or toilets. This has a huge impact on children as they face serious diseases and health concerns because of this. For girls, the issue is even more pronounced because of issues such as dignity and safety as they are put in vulnerable situations without proper washrooms or education as they have to miss school during their periods. Together, we can do something about this! Let’s give the gift of toilets!

All because they don’t have a toilet! The gift of washrooms impacts their health, their education and their communities as they are provided with protection against waterborne diseases and vulnerable situations and most importantly, they are provided dignity. Blog Story: Flushed with dignity

Suggested caption: Toilets empower communities. The toilets at this Compassion centre have been transformative not only for the children who attend the centre but for church members and even neighbours who live near the church and don’t have access to their own washrooms. They have also provided a safe space for teenagers who are susceptible to danger in public bathrooms. For this community, access to washrooms have not only protected them from serious diseases, but also has given them a sense of ownership for their community’s health. This is what the gift of a toilet can do. Give the gift of toilets: www.compassion.ca/shop/washrooms (*If you are running a personal fundraiser, replace this link with your personalized link!)
