Suggested language for sharing: We’ve all heard that babies are bundles of joy but it is also true that babies are bundles of hope. Full of innocence and promise, babies represent the future and this is why it is so heartbreaking that poverty impacts them so greatly. The start of life for both babies and their mothers is a critical time. Did you know that children face the greatest risk of death in their first 28 daysOr that approximately 810 women died every day during and following childbirth? This is a matter of survival and we can ensure that moms and babies have everything they need to not only survive, but thrive! Give to moms and babies in poverty.

Suggested language for sharing: For moms and babies in poverty, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to receive the proper healthcare and nutrition that is essential for them to thrive. Neonatal conditions are the leading cause of death in low-income countries and maternal health statistics are also discouraging to say the least. But we can change their story. Giving to moms and babies ensure that they not only survive, but that they thrive. Give to moms and babies today.

Mothers around the world face incredibly challenging circumstances. But they are our future and we can bring hope into the world by ensuring that moms and babies have everything they need to thrive. When we give to moms and babies in poverty, we are impacting the future, their future. Give to moms and babies.

Video #3Double Surprise for Maria (2:49)

Suggested language for sharing: What hope is there when a mother finds out she is pregnant but has no resources, support or access to healthcare? For many mothers in poverty, this is the reality. But Compassion knows how critical this stage of life is for mothers and their babies and works through the local church to meet these crucial needs and bring them hope. When people like you and I give to help moms and babies, it has a direct impact on women like Maria and her twins by helping her access quality healthcare, good education on being a caregiver and the support that will help her family thrive. Give a gift to help moms and babies in poverty thrive!

Blog #1: When poverty meets pregnancy

Suggested caption: It can feel hopeless when you find out you are pregnant but know that you do not have what you need to support a baby. Poverty meets many pregnancies with a feeling of anxiety and despair. But when the Church rises up to meet the needs of these moms and babies, it transforms the story to be one of hope. Tiruwork says, “Even though I didn’t have any hope before, now I’m a mom and I have hope because of my twins.” This is the type of hope and transformation I want to be a part of. Will you join me? Blog #2: Border lockdown separates baby Sathinee from parents

Suggested caption: Babies in poverty come up against many obstacles. This stage is very important because it sets them up to thrive in life. Poverty, however, can make this stage of life even more critical as healthcare, quality nutrition and support are beyond the reach of many parents and caregivers. This is where the local church comes in providing the support that caregivers in poverty need. For baby Sathinee, this support became a lifeline. I am committed to helping the local church be a lifeline for babies like Sathinee when they need it most.
