Fathers are a special kind of wonderful. The impact of a beautiful father-child relationship is enough to cause a child to grow in the knowledge that they are known and loved! It’s a relationship unlike any other.
This Father’s Day, we’re sitting down with Compassion kids in Guatemala and Bangladesh to learn about their favourite memories with their dads. Meet these sweet father-child duos!

Hometown: San Pedor Pinula, Guatemala
Q: Thatiana, what do you and your dad like to do together?
My family and I have a church band, so I love to play music with my daddy leading the group.
Q: What is your father good at? What’s your favourite memory with him?
Daddy is a good musician. He plays guitar, piano, he sings and plays drums. My favourite memory with him is on my last birthday, we went to the park and played with my sisters. I love the park.
Q: How do you know your father loves you?
I know that my father loves me when he plays with me and hugs me.

Q: Baby, what is one thing your father really good at?
My father is good at making various things with bamboo. Even our home is made by his own hands.
Q: What do you and your father like to do together?
We like to clean the small fishes together. I love them!
Q: What’s your favourite memory with your father?
I used to go off to sleep when all my family members would be talking to each other in the evening. At that time, my father used to pick me up and put me in bed. Sometimes, knowingly, I pretended to be asleep.
Q: What’s one thing you’d like to say to you dad?
Thank you, daddy, for working very hard for our family.

Q: Jose, what is your father good at?
My father is really good at fixing electronics and giving me useful advice.
Q: What do you and your father like to do together?
We love to work together, and we feed the chickens.

My favourite memory was when we went to the watering-place, we were so happy playing together.

Q: Uheimong, what’s your favourite memory with your father?
My favourite memory of my father is when I had gone with him to the market for the first time. He gave me my first cricket bat.
Q: What do you and your father like to do together?
We like to spend time under the big tree near our home together. Sometimes we spend hours talking under the shade of the tree.
Q: How do you know your father loves you?
I’ve never known him to not love me.
Q: What’s one thing you’d like to tell your dad?
Thank you, dad, for always keeping notice of me in every situation.

Q: Wasanu, what do you and your father like to do together?
Daddy, my little sister Umaching and I love to make house figures with bamboo twigs.

I know that he loves me because he spends time with us whenever we ask him to.
Q: What’s your favourite memory with your father?
My favourite memory with him is when we make the house figures together. He loves to cut the bamboo into small pieces while we tie them up to form a house.
