Do you want an easy, delicious treat from the Dominican Republic to share with your family, along with a devotional to remind them of the Lord’s goodness? These coconut kisses are a favourite treat in Spanish-speaking Caribbean islands. We hope you and your family enjoy this treat as much as sponsored children in the Dominican Republic do!

Besitos de Coco

  • 3 cups sweetened, shredded coconut
  • ½ cup flour
  • 4 egg whites
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • Melted chocolate for drizzling, optional

Preheat your oven to 350° F and grease a cookie sheet. Next, mix all the ingredients to form a dough.

A mixing bowl full of cookie dough.

Divide the dough into 24 balls.

A cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, with balls of cookie dough on it.

Place the balls on the cookie sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden. Drizzle with chocolate for extra sweetness. Enjoy! (Makes about 24 cookies.)

Cookies drizzled with chocolate sitting on a cooling rack.

Devotion

While you enjoy your coconut kisses, read this verse with your family:

“Taste and see that the Lord is good.” Psalm 34:8

Ask:

  • What are some ways we experience that the Lord is good?
  • What are some ways we can share the goodness of God with others?
