Representing a full year of work during the global COVID-19 pandemic in 25 countries around the world, this year’s report highlights sustained impact, innovative adaptability and the faithful generosity of Canadians.

“In the face of all this challenge and complexity, Compassion didn’t falter in our ability to serve children and families living in poverty, thanks to your faithful generosity,” says Compassion Canada Board Chair, Mark Fletcher. “We are thankful for your choice to partner with Compassion to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name.”

The report emphasizes Compassion’s global adaptation and innovation during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the delivery of over 15.9 million emergency food packs and the introduction of electronic cash transfers and virtual connections. It also highlights Compassion’s commitment to our regular child development programming, including educational support, child protection, counselling and spiritual care.

Additionally, Compassion Canada’s new online intervention reports enable our generous supporters to easily see the impact of initiatives funded specifically by Canadians. In 2020-2021, Canadians funded 242 beyond sponsorship initiatives, including:

  • A Survival program in Haiti for 22 babies and their caregivers.
  • Two boreholes in Ghana that provides safe water to 393 children and their families.
  • Small business support for 1,227 caregivers in El Salvador who lost their sources of income due to the pandemic.

These words from Allison Alley, Compassion Canada’s President and CEO, encapsulate the message at the heart of this report: “Know this: your generosity, support and steadfastness for the mission matters as we seek Kingdom transformation in the world around us. God is working through you in remarkable ways to advance His good purposes around the world, and I hope you can see through the numbers and stories presented in this report that it is making a significant impact.”
